OPI ♥︎ Barbie The Movie Collection 2023 Swatch and Review

Hello nail art enthusiasts!  I have a mid-summer swatch and review for you.  It is the OPI♥︎Barbie The Movie collection.  This is in collaboration with the release of the Barbie movie.  I have not yet watched the film, but I am always excited when OPI comes out with a collection.  If you do not already know, OPI is one of my favorite nail polish brands.  There are nine polishes shades in this collection with some crèmes, shimmers and glitters.  This definitely brings me back to when I was a kid and would play with Barbies.  Let’s get into this collection and see what I think.

Feel the Magic!

Feel the Magic! is a medium bubblegum pink crème.  This is the quintessential Barbie pink for me.  It was just a little streaky on the first coat, but the after the second coat, it was opaque.  The formula on this was easy to work with and creamy to apply.

Best Day Ever

Best Day Ever is a sheer pink frost base with iridescent glitters.  I would recommend this as a topper, as it is too sheer to be full coverage.  Of course, if the sheerness is what you’re looking for then great!  I did two coats for the picture and although it may look like it is fully opaque, it is not.  The formula on this was easy to work with, but it was not my favorite.  I feel like the frost in the formula kind of hides the glitters so you don’t get to see them as much.  Ah well, to each their own.

Hi Ken!

Hi Ken! is a bright but light to medium sunny yellow crème.  I was pleasantly surprised with how well this applied for being a yellow.  Yellows always seem to be harder to get fully opaque in just two coats.  This one was just a little streaky in that first coat, but by the second coat, it was fully opaque.  I like that they added this to the collection as it helps break up the pinks.

Bon Voyage to Reality!

Bon Voyage to Reality! is a nude crème with just a hint of pink.  I would say it’s more of an off-white.  The pink is there, but barely.  This was streaky in the first coat, but with careful application, you should get it opaque in the second coat.  I did two coats for the hand swatch picture.

Every Night is Girls Night

Every Night is Girls Night is a champagne frost base with iridescent and holographic glitters.  This I would also consider as a topper.  This is the most “chunky” glitter formula in this collection, but it is still easy to work with.  I used two coats for the hand swatch picture.

Hi Barbie!

Hi Barbie! is a medium hot pink crème.  This color and Feel the Magic are the iconic Barbie colors.  The formula on this was amazing!  It was almost a one coater.  I used two coats for the hand swatch picture.

Welcome to Barbie Land!

Welcome to Barbie Land! is a hot pink shimmer base with fuchsia and silver shimmer specks.  This I would consider a topper as it was just not opaque in two coats.  The formula was easy to apply.  I used three coats for the hand swatch picture.

My Job is Beach

My Job is Beach is a medium sky blue crème.  This paired with either of the pink crèmes gives me 80’s vibes for sure!  It also had a great formula and was easy to apply.  It was opaque in two coats.

Yay Space!

Yay Space! is a sheer blue base with blue and silver shimmers.  This is another one that I would consider a topper.  It has a good formula and was easy to apply.  I used three coats for the hand swatch picture.

My Thoughts

This is a nostalgic collection for me for sure.  All of the colors had a great formula and were easy to apply.  The toppers you could wear on their own or apply them over their corresponding crème colors.  My favorites were Feel the Magic, Hi Ken!, Hi Barbie!, and My Job is Beach.  Any surprise that all my favorites were crèmes?!  I think the color story is great and gives me 80’s feels.  Which ones are you going to pick up!  You can purchase any one of these from my store OPI♥︎Barbie The Movie .
