OPI Big Zodiac Energy Fall 2023 Swatch and Review

Hello nail art enthusiasts!  Time for another fall collection review.  This time it is for OPI Big Zodiac Energy.  Taking their inspiration from Astrology, this collection has 12 colors, one for each of the Zodiac symbols.  There are no crèmes in this collection, but an assortment of shimmers and pearls.  Let’s get started on this collection, and see what my thoughts are.

Aquarius Renegade

Aquarius Renegade is a navy blue with silver pearl.  The navy blue is deep but the silver pearl brings a pop of brightness and depth.  There are brush strokes with this type of formula, so you can do a careful application to minimize these.  I used 2 coats for full opacity in the swatch photo.

Big Sagittarius Energy

Big Sagittarius Energy is a red burgundy with a warm copper pearl.  The burgundy is also a deep color, but the warm copper pearl just adds a little oomph.  Use a careful application to minimize brush strokes.  This was opaque in 2 coats for the swatch photo.

Feelin’ Capricorn-y

Feelin’ Capricorn-y is a green jelly base with a multi-color small particle shimmer.  This is such a pretty color and one of my favorites.  I used 3 coats for the swatch photo on the left.  Since this is a sheerer color, I used one coat of a similar color crème as a base coat, and then applied 2 coats on top for the swatch photo on the right.  I prefer having a base color with this polish.  I think it just brings out the amazing shimmers in this color.

Feelin’ Libra-ted

Feelin’ Libra-ted is a pink-purple jelly base with small indigo and pink iridescent shards and shimmer.  This color is another of my favorites because the shards and shimmer just add dimension to it.  I used 3 coats for the swatch photo on the left.  On the right, I used a similar color base and 2 coats of it on top.  The base color makes the deeper purple pop as well as make the shimmers stand out more.

Gemini and I

Gemini and I is an ivory champagne with a white silver shimmer.  This color reminds me of old Hollywood glam and would be a good color for the office.  This color also would be a good winter color!  I did 3 coats for full opacity for the swatch photo.

I Cancer-tainly Shine

I Cancer-tainly Shine is a silver holographic flake with dense holo particles.  This is another one of my favorites from this collection.  It’s so shiny and sparkly!  The photo just doesn’t do this color justice.  The holo is so dense that I only needed 2 coats for the photo.

Kiss My Aries

Kiss My Aries is a bright red with a warm toned coppery shimmer.  This is a pretty red and the shimmers are good for fall or winter season.  The shimmer adds depth to this color and makes it more than just a typical red.  I used 2 coats for the photo.

The Leo-nly One

The Leo-nly One is warm gold pearl with just a hint of a green to it.  I prefer cool toned golds, but this warm tone is great for fall.  This pearl formula shows brush strokes, so use careful application to minimize them.  I used 3 coats for the photo, but you may get full opacity in two, depending on your application.

Pisces the Future

Pisces the Future is a light aqua blue base with a blue to purple to pink pearl shift.  The color really shifts in the bottle, but I feel the shift on the nail shows more in extreme angles or light.  This was another of my favorites.  The brush strokes with show in this color as well, so I did a careful application.  I did 3 coats for the photo.

Scorpio Seduction

Scorpio Seduction is a deep blue base with a blue to purple shimmer shift.  The shift does not show as well on the nail as it does in the bottle, but that doesn’t make this any less of a beautiful color.  I used 2 coats for the photo.

Taurus-t Me

Taurus-t Me is a green jelly base with a gold shimmer.  This is a sheerer color, so I don’t know how many coats it would take to get opaque on it’s own.  I most definitely prefer this polish be used with a base color.  I used 3 coats on its own for the photo on the left.  For the photo on the right, I used a darker green base color, then 2 coats of this.  I really think a base color brings out the shimmers in this polish.

#Virgoals

#Virgoals is an orange jelly base with a green to gold shimmer.  This is another pretty sheer color that I prefer to have a color base under it.  The shift on the nails is not as intense as it shows in the bottle.  I used 3 coats for the photo on the left.  For the right photo, I used a warm toned beige base color, then 2 coats of #Virgoals on top.  In my opinion, this color pops way more with a base color.  The  shimmers really show more with a base color as well.

My Thoughts

I think this collection was pretty neat and different.  There were no crèmes, so this may or may not make some people happy.  My favorites were Feelin’ Capricorn-y,  Feelin’ Libra-ted, I Cancer-tainly Shine, and Pisces the Future.  All of the polishes were creamy and easy to apply.  A lot of these colors would also work well for other times of the year.  What are your thoughts on this collection?  You can pick them up from my store here OPI Big Zodiac Energy.
