Hello nail art enthusiasts! It’s one of my favorite times of the year again. OPI has released their Power of Hue Collection for Summer of 2022. If you’ve been following my blog, you know that OPI is one of my favorite nail polish brands, so of course I was excited to try out these colors. There are 12 shades in this collection and they all have a shimmer formula. All of the colors also dry to a matte or a satin matte finish. There are some bright and bold colors and some more subdued colors. What do I think of this collection? Keep reading and find out, then let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
Bee Unapologetic
Bee Unapologetic is a bright yellow shimmer with golden micro flakes. I would say this is more of a limon yellow because it does have a hint of green in it. This was opaque in 2 coats and was easy to apply.
Don’t Wait. Create.
Don’t Wait. Create. is a medium lilac purple with purple iridescent micro flakes. This one is the lighter of two purples in this collection. It was opaque in 2 coats, but it was a little thicker formula to work with.
Exercise Your Brights
Exercise Your Brights is a hot pink jelly base with hot pink micro flakes. This is the brighter of the two similar shaded pinks in this collection. This was opaque in 3 coats. This was easy to apply.
Feel Bluetiful
Feel Bluetiful is a bright mermaid blue base with a green shimmer that makes the polish appear more turquoise. This was opaque in 2 coats. This color is brighter in person than it shows on camera. This is my favorite color from this collection.
Go to Grape Lengths
Go to Grape Lengths is a darker purple base with blue and pink shimmer. This is the darker of the purples in this collection, but the shimmer still makes it bright. This was opaque in 2 coats but the formula was a little thick to work with.
Make Rainbows
Make Rainbows is a lime green base with a fine blue shimmer. The shimmer in this is so fine, it’s almost like a pearl. This was opaque in 2 coats and was easy to apply.
Mango For It
Mango For It is a bright bold orange base with a golden micro flake shimmer. The shimmer really helps this orange to pop. It was opaque for me in 3 coats.
Pink BIG
Pink BIG is a fuchsia base with a pink and purple micro flake shimmer. This is the second similar shaded pink in this collection but it has more purple tones and while it’s still bright, it’s not as “neon” bright. This was opaque for me in 3 coats.
Sky True to Yourself
Sky True to Yourself is a light blue base with a blue iridescent micro flake shimmer. This is the lighter of the blues in this collection but it still packs a punch. It was opaque for me in 3 coats.
Sugar Crush It
Sugar Crush It is a cotton candy pink with a faint blue shimmer and iridescent pink micro flake shimmer. This is the lightest pink in this collection. It was opaque for me in 3 coats.
Sun-rise Up
Sun-rise Up is coral base with and orange gold micro flake shimmer. The shimmer in this is as visible on the nail as it is in the bottle, but it does brighten it up. This was opaque for me in 2 coats.
The Future is You
The Future is You is a peachy nude base with a gold and pink shimmer. The shimmer is really not visible on the nail. This is a good color for those who need a work appropriate color. This was opaque for me in 2 coats.
My Thoughts
I really like this collection. Most of the colors are bold and bright. I can make a great rainbow mani with these. All of the polishes dry to a matte or satin matte finish and with that kind of formula, some are a little tricky to work with. You don’t want to over-work them or apply in too many strokes. I definitely prefer to use top coat over these colors and it helps to bring out the shimmer in them. Some of the colors are easier to work with than others. With that being said, I still like this collection. My favorite is Feel Bluetiful and my least favorite is The Future is You. I will say this is different for OPI with all of the polishes being shimmers. Usually they are mostly crèmes. The Future is You is the closest one to a crème since the shimmer is so faint in it. I am going to be putting these colors on my toes. They are bright and fun. Enjoy and have fun being creative.
