Born Pretty Mirror Nail Powder Review

Mirror Nail Powder Review

I purchased these nail powders from the Born Pretty website.  For the set of 5, each jar containing about 1g, I paid $5.59.  When you purchase the entire set there is a discounted price compared to if you ordered them separately.  If you’re interested you can purchase them here “Born Pretty Mirror Nail Powder“.  You don’t need a lot of product so the 1g goes a long way.  Each container also came with its own applicator stick.

Before beginning I always recommend having something that is easy to clean up on your workspace.  These powders are fine and get all over the place.  I use my “Twinkled T Glamour Mat” on my workspace.  This mat cleans up easily with some acetone or nail polish remover.  I also use a fluffy brush to dust away the powder from my fingers and nails.

Application

For each color I did 2 coats of a black and white gel base color.  I used a no wipe top coat on each before applying the powder.  Then using the applicator stick I patted some product on and rubbed and buffed it in.  I used the fluffy brush to dust away any remaining powder before top coating them all.

Purple

Here is the purple over a black and white base.  Again, the white base is hard to pick up in the camera but with the naked eye you can see the purple sheen.  Over the black base it is a dark purple.  It also can be seen in darker lighting but really pops in good lighting.  It definitely has the “mirror” effect.

Green

Here is the green over a black and white base.  The white base is hard to pick up in the camera but with the naked eye you can see a green sheen.  Over the black base it is a smoky medium green.  It is one of the colors that is easier seen in darker lighting but really pops in good lighting.  It has the “mirror” effect as well.

Gold

Here is the gold over a black and white base.  The white base is hard to pick up in the camera but with the naked eye you can see a gold sheen.  Over the black base it is a gold with almost a green tint to it.  In my personal opinion it is one of the colors that is harder to see in darker lighting but you can see it in good lighting.  It has the “mirror” effect as well.

Blue

Here is the blue over a black and white base.  The white base is hard to pick up in the camera but with the naked eye you can see a blue sheen.  Over the black base it is a bright blue.  In my personal opinion it is the easiest color to see in darker lighting and really stands out in good lighting.  It has the “mirror” effect as well.

Orange-Red

Here is the orange-red over a black and white base.  The white base is hard to pick up in the camera but with the naked eye you can see an orange-red sheen.  Over the black base it is more of a maroon or dark vampy red color.  In my opinion it is one of the colors that is harder to see in darker lighting but can be seen in good lighting.  It has the “mirror” effect.

Here I stamped a design on a swatch and rubbed the blue, green and purple powder over the stamped design.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed playing with this product.  The application was easy.  My favorite color was the blue because it was so easy to see in any lighting, but they are all nice.  The possibilities with this product are numerous and now I need my friends and family to practice ideas on.
