Born Pretty Stamping Polish Review

Hello nail art enthusiasts!  I have finally gotten to the Born Pretty Stamping Polish set I got.  It’s a set of 25 stamping polishes in various colors and finishes. They are 6ml square bottles.  I purchased this set from Ebay.  You get a lot of stamping polish for a good price, but do they work well?  Keep reading to find out my thoughts on these stamping polishes.

The first five polishes are #1 through #5.  The polishes don’t have names just numbers.  #1 is a yellow gold glittery metallic that stamped well over black and white.  #2 is a silver metallic that stamped well over black and white.  #3 is a standard black that stamped well over white, so it should stamp well over all other colors.  #4 is a bright white that stamped well over black and was even whiter than the white base color on the swatch stick.  #5 is a standard red that stamped well over white, but over the black it was not as bright and looks almost a brick red.

The second set of five polishes are #6 through #10.  #6 is a mustard yellow that stamped well over white, but over black it loses its opacity.  #7 is a dark blue that is good over white but you can’t see it at all over black unless it’s in direct light.  #8 is a medium purple that stamped well over black and white.  #9 is a light blue that shocked me as it stamped just as well over black as it did over white.  #10 is a bright orange that stamped well over white but did lose a little bit of opacity over black.

The third set of polishes are #11 though #15.  #11 is a medium reddish pink that stamped well over black and white.  #12 is a standard green that stamped well over both black and white.  #13 is a raspberry pink that stamped well over white but you can barely see it over black.  #14 is a medium royal purple that stamped well over black and white.  #15 is a chocolate brown that stamped well over black and white.

The fourth set of polishes are #16 through #21.  #16 is a light peachy pink that stamped well over black and white.  #17 is a medium blue that stamped well over black and white.  #18 is a turquoise that stamped well over black and white.  #19 is a lighter brown than #15 and stamps well over white but is hard to see over black.  There is no 20.  #21 is a medium barbie pink that stamped well over black and white.

The last set of five polishes is #22 through #37.  #22 is a bright lemon lime that also shocked me on how well it stamped over black as well as white.  #31 is a dark metallic purple that stamped well over white but over black can only be seen in direct sunlight.  #33 is a medium cornflower metallic blue that stamped well over black and white.  #34 is a metallic red that stamped well over white and black, but over black it looks more raspberry colored.  #37 is a glittery metallic green that stamped well over black and white.

My Thoughts

I think there are some pros and cons for me on these stamping polishes.  For me the biggest con is the size and shape of the lids.  The square lid does come off revealing a smaller round nubby lid you prefer that.  I have big hand and long nails, so the size of the lids can be challenging for me.  With stamping, you have to work quickly and I don’t want to have to be thinking about having to grab and hold the handle a certain way.  Another con for me would be that these colors are only sold in a set and not separately, so if you run out of a color you like, you would have to buy the whole set again or find a similar color.

A big pro is that you get a lot of colors for a good price and they all stamp well.  This set or something like this would be great if you are just starting out with stamping and want to have a variety of colors to choose from and not just the standard black, white and a few other colors.  There are a couple different finishes in this set as well from cremes to metallics to glittery metallics.

Overall, I think this is a good buy and worth adding to your collection.  The colors were pretty pigmented and there were even a few that surprised me on how well they stamped over black.  Usually pastels lose a lot of opacity over black but most of these didn’t.  I know that Born Pretty has switched to a different bottle and lid shape, so I hope to try some of those out and see if the colors stamp as well as these ones did.
